The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has claimed that the country is one of the best performing in Europe in the vaccination process.

Spain’s Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, announced this Tuesday (20 April) that there are already more people vaccinated against the coronavirus with the complete schedule of two doses than the number of recorded infections throughout the pandemic.

“Today we have achieved one of the major milestones in this healthcare crisis. There are more people immunised people than those infected,» said Darias, highlighting that this «milestone» is thanks to the joint efforts of the European Union, the regions, health professionals and the government itself led by PM Pedro Sánchez.

The Minister of Health said that Spain is already among the European countries with the «best performance» in the vaccination process, being in the top three for the number of doses administered each week.

By this Monday, the Spanish regions had administered 12,853,599 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca.

A total of 3,411,914 people have already received the second dose – some 7.2 per cent of the population.
