The old bull ring in Puerto Banús, which closed its doors in 2010, will be reopening in May 2019 as the Marbella Arena, an auditorium for cultural events surrounded by terraces, bars and restaurants. The project, announced on Wednesday, is being handled by Grupo Teatro Goya who are investing 30 million euros in the renovation of the building.

The new cultural centre will hold 5,000 people, 1,000 of which can be seated around the ring. There will also be 60 gallery seats in three tiers.

Dressing rooms and storage areas are also being created and over the winter the arena will be covered, although plans to do this is still being discussed according to the developers.
