Saudia Airlines, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has announced the addition of Malaga to its summer route network, further strengthening Malaga Airport’s international connectivity. From June 11 to August 30, 2025, Saudia will operate three weekly flights between Malaga and Riyadh, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. This marks an expansion of the airline’s services to Malaga, which has been part of its year-round route network since 2018.

The new summer flights will be operated using a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, offering 290 seats per flight. Saudia Airlines, which operates more than 500 flights daily, currently boasts a fleet of 147 Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The airline is also planning to expand its fleet with an additional 118 aircraft in the coming years, further enhancing its operational capacity.

Malaga is one of more than 10 new destinations being added by Saudia Airlines for the summer of 2025, alongside other cities including Vienna, Venice, Larnaca, Athens, Heraklion, Nice, Bali, Antalya, El Alamein, and Salalah. This expansion reflects a 16% year-on-year increase in international passengers, highlighting the growing global demand for travel.

Ibrahim Al-Omar, CEO of Saudia Group, stated: “Following last year’s operational success, we have launched a strategic plan for 2025 to ensure continued excellence and meet the growing demand for international travel. Our destinations are selected based on extensive feasibility studies and customer preferences, with the aim of offering exceptional travel experiences that combine comfort, efficiency, and authentic Saudi hospitality.”

As part of its international growth strategy, Saudia Airlines aims to increase its global market share and strengthen connectivity between Saudi Arabia and key international hubs. Founded in 1945, the airline has grown to become one of the largest carriers in the Middle East, with an extensive network of more than 100 destinations across four continents. The addition of Malaga further reinforces Saudia’s commitment to offering superior travel experiences for its international passengers.
