The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, and the territorial director of Metrovacesa for Eastern Andalusia, Lorenzo Santana, today visited the bridge and the pedestrian walkway that the developer has built in the north of Cancelada with Bel-Air.

It is “the most important road infrastructure executed in Cancelada”, which allows joining two important areas of this urban centres and facilitates travel within the city, avoiding having to take the A7 highway, as explained by the councilor.

This new internal connection between both residential areas, promoted by the City Council and executed by Metrovacesa, will benefit the more than 4,000 residents who live in this part of the suburbs.

In addition, this new infrastructure will alleviate traffic in the accesses to the highway, since thousands of vehicles will have an alternative route daily to carry out communications between the urbanizations, hotels, golf courses and commercial establishments in this area, especially , taking into account that the bridge over the A7 at the height of Cancelada is, at the moment, cut off by the works being carried out by the central government.

García Urbano explained that the execution of the works, which have involved an investment of 1.8 million euros, have been carried out by Metrovacesa as an urban charge for the development of this sector of the city.

“The inauguration of the Cancelada-Bel Air bridge is a milestone for Estepona that will improve mobility and connections in the town. It is also a milestone for Metrovacesa, as it will allow us to better connect our promotions with the rest of the town . Without a doubt , It is a project that supports the urban development of the area that will soon have new services such as sports and leisure spaces ” , as explained by the territorial director of Eastern Andalusia of Metrovacesa, Lorenzo Santana.

The bridge over the Taraje river is 120 meters long, 16.5 meters wide and 8.5 meters high. It has two lanes for vehicular traffic, one in each direction, and a pedestrian walkway and the connection with República Dominicana street, in the Cancelada area, and the Briján road, in Bel-Air.

José María García Urbano has added that the government team has promoted urbanization works in various sectors of the city to complete the infrastructures and services that were not executed when their respective urban developments took place in Estepona Golf, Valle Romano, Arroyo Vaquero, Nueva Atalaya and Juan Benítez, among others.
