The UK’s Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said that pre-departure tests for fully vaccinated travellers to England will be no longer needed.

The UK’s Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has confirmed this Friday that rules for travel into England will be simplified from 4 October.

The tourism industry on the Costa del Sol has welcomed the news that the red-amber-green traffic light system for travel in force now will be replaced by a single red list and a «rest of world» group formed by countries currently on the green and amber lists.

Covid travel requirements for people entering England will also be simplified.

From 4 October fully vaccinated travellers entering England from countries not on the red list – including Spain – will no longer have to take a pre-departure test.

They will still have to take a PCR test two days after arrival in England, although Shapps said that later in October this will be replaced by a cheaper lateral flow test.
