Estepona town hall has officially put out to tender the construction of a new velodrome and accompanying sports facilities, marking a significant expansion of the town’s recreational infrastructure. The project, valued at nearly €4 million, will feature a modern velodrome with an oval cycling track and a state-of-the-art artificial grass pitch designed for rugby and 11-a-side football.

Spanning over 20,000 square metres, the new peri-urban park will include stands for 1,000 spectators, gym facilities, toilets, changing rooms, offices, and storage spaces. The site will be located adjacent to the Monterroso stream and Camino de las Mesas, with essential utilities such as water, sewage, and electricity already being installed by the town hall.

The construction contract, budgeted at €3,947,870 including VAT, anticipates completion within one year from the start of the work. Municipal authorities have also revealed plans to build 300 social housing units around the new sports complex, further integrating the development into the community.

This initiative reflects Estepona’s ongoing commitment to enhance its network of sports facilities and provide state-of-the-art recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
