Solar Eclipse Fever Hits the Costa del Sol as Hotel Prices Soar Ahead of 2027

Excitement is already building across southern Spain for the total solar eclipse on August 2, 2027, with the Costa del Sol expected to be one of the prime locations to experience the extraordinary event.
The eclipse is expected to pass across southern Spain at around 10:45am, with the path of totality covering areas including Málaga, the Costa del Sol, Cádiz, Granada, Almería and Gibraltar. Along the Costa del Sol, locations from Nerja to Estepona are expected to experience totality.
Demand for accommodation has already surged, with hotels and holiday rentals dramatically increasing their rates for the dates surrounding the eclipse. Some properties are reportedly being advertised for several thousand euros per night, while demand in areas within the path of totality is already significantly higher than usual.
The phenomenon is expected to attract thousands of international visitors, eclipse enthusiasts and travellers to southern Spain, creating an exceptionally busy period for Marbella and the wider Costa del Sol.
With its Mediterranean setting, luxury hospitality and position within the eclipse zone, Marbella is set to become one of the most sought-after destinations for this once-in-a-generation spectacle.
