The privileged location makes Istán “the green lung of Costa del Sol”. Istán is mainly a Village of Water. You will find one fountain in nearly every street and the water flows everywhere through its Moorish irrigation ditches: it is the Spring of the Costa del Sol.

Walk through the streets, alleys, viewpoints, fountains, irrigation ditches, the Escalante Tower, the natural pools of Rio Verde and, after such a healthy and beautiful tour, to enjoy some tapas or a traditional menu in our bars and restaurants. A “pasodoble” song dedicated to our town says: “Istán, a beautiful and unmatched paradise where, after a visit, everybody wants to stay”

Istán is the only town on the Costa del Sol that has kept its identity intact for centuries and, its ideal location and its entire natural heritage makes it the Natural Gate from Costa del Sol to soon to be National Park Of the Sierra de Las Nieves.
